View from Arranmore Island, Donegal, across the sea towards Gweedore on the mainland. The rocky islands of West Donegal  and Errigal can be seen in the distance. Washing dries on a line hung from the ruins of an outhouse and a old cottage. I love the movement of drying clothes on a line and I return to this subject again and again. Here the white sheet contrasts with the dark stone buildings. It reminds of the refreshing Donegal breeze. I also like the juxtaposition of the old buildings with the new,  the low wall bisecting the painting on the right hand side, and the shadow of a house.  This is island life, old works along side the new.
