This is a painting of one of the small dogs spotted at Stroud market a fortnight (2 weeks) ago. This tiny girl was waiting for her people to stop talking so she could carry on leading the way forward.
I managed to make it down to Rhossili Bay this week. It has been raining on and off for weeks. I have been painting in my attic studio listening to the rain thundering down and I have got quite tired of that sound. So when I was greeted by clear skies I decided, on a whim, to drive down to Rhossili to see the autumn colours.
Commissions are usually pretty interesting because they will challenge me in some way or another. This particular commission’s challenge was about scale.
I needed to paint this picture. I have painted a lot of landscapes lately and I was missing the challenge of the human form.
