Chalford Hill and Chalford have an extraordinary number of paths winding up the steep hillsides. Until the 1930s donkeys were used to deliver goods up and down the hill.
The part of Eastcombe that I have painted here is accessed down a steep single track road and it can be pretty treacherous in the winter ice.
