The Cloud Remains

“This painting is of the straggling wisps of cloud left on the hills in the Black Mountains after a passing storm. It was an amazing scene, this steam-like vapour rising out of the backs and humps of the hills. It looked as if the hills had just had a shower and the appearing sun was drying them off. I loved how the low lying clouds combed the trees and hedges as they floated past. The sun, shining through to illuminate this effect, seemed also to grow patchworks of colours from the fields around the surrounding landscape, as it the light was a nurturing spectral beam. The colours in the Black Mountains after the weather breaks on the hills are heavenly and this is what I hoped to convey. ”

Buy Direct From My Art Gallery

Delighted to say I have just SOLD “Ilston Brook” directly via my Art Gallery, the “Back Lane Gallery” here in Brynmill Swansea (the lane is the opposite the Rhyddings Pub.)

This oil painting was SOLD to a lovely art collector who visited from Cardiff and had a private viewing before buying this lovely oil painting! I hope to sell more paintings directly via my The Back Lane Gallery in the coming months and years.

“A “refractionist” interpretive oil painting of a brook running through a wood near Ilston in the Gower Peninsula. The winter light combines with the grey haze of barren branched trees to create subtle, almost misty, pinks and purples, softened by the reflective silvery water.”

Transforming an Art Studio into an Art Gallery

Transforming an art studio into an art gallery – I have recently put some curtains for privacy and a few picture hanging rails onto the white walls of my art studio and it has really transformed it from a studio into somewhere where one can view art, serving as a private viewing space for artlovers to have a look at my paintings in “the flesh”.

Having this viewing space is designed to help artlovers make that final decision about buying my artwork. I have sold dozens of pieces of artwork this way and really enjoy meeting artlovers who like my artwork.

It also helps some artlovers to meet me and to get to know who they will be buying art from. It all adds to the enriching experience of buying art.

Artlovers also often like to hear about the inspiration behind certain paintings and this brings the artwork to life.

Although my paintings are professionally photographed some artlovers simply like to see the paintings in front of their very eyes.
Also artlovers can say, in advance, what paintings, in particular, they would like “hung” or displayed for them to have a closer look at and they will be hung on the white walls ready for them to view.

They can do this in the afternoon or the evening as the tracking lights enable viewing in the evening too.

Dear Emma,

I thought I would let you know that my husband gave me your picture for Christmas. I adore it, and it looks totally fabulous hanging in our kitchen. Thank you for producing such an amazing piece of art,

Yours Sincerely,

I am really looking forward to having the painting.

Once we found your work, it was hard to choose. I loved some of the landscapes (we lived in the UK for a couple of years and I am a sucker British countryside – so different from Australia) and the couple of ‘bridge’ ones were captivating too. But I just kept coming back to A Summered Garden because of the way the light plays on the leaves and because of the depth of colour.

I have already shown off your work to some friends and will continue to!
Many thanks

I wanted to let you know that we got the painting and it is spectacular. We were going to put it in our bedroom above our bed but in fact we realised it would be wasted there a bit. We put it in our lounge/family room which is open and sunny and looks out onto our garden. It is just perfect there. We haven’t got it framed yet but it is just beautiful still.
Even my 7 year old son thinks it is amazing.

I am so glad you could ship it and I am so glad we chose that painting.

Thanks again Mia,

Hello, I’ve just this moment purchased 3 of your prints and just wanted to say how wonderful I think your artworks are, just glorious. I wish I had the funds to purchase an original …maybe one day I’ll be in that position. In the mean time, I have added you to my favourites on Art Finder and I’m looking forward to seeing more of your beautiful creations. All the very best, Gill .

Hello Emma, thank you for “The Bench”. The picture is excellent. I love the bright colours and the way it leads off into the woods. I have put it in a bedroom on a pale green wall with orange bits (cushions etc) and it looks fantastic. I have not framed it. Best wishes, Michael.

Hi Emma,

Thank you so much for my prints, they are stunning.

I hope you don’t mind me asking but do you have any recommendations from framing? Type of mount and frame?

I want to make sure the frame does them justice!

All the best

Now your style struck me straight to the heart. And I said to myself “if I were a painter – that is how I would like to paint”. So that is what brought me to you.

I look forward so much to receiving the paintings and thank you so much for your wonderful thoughtfulness.Do You ever take on students for a crash course in your technique?

With best wishes,

Oh my word!!!! Rooster just arrived and he is BEAUTIFUL!!!! Brilliant!!!!! I LOVE HIM!!!!!!!!

The cooling glade
Ah yes, it really shows through in your work. The light in the distance… It’s why I fell in love with your art and this painting in particular. That it reminds me of two different but still very special places was probably what clinched it (I spent the weekend, after I picked up your card at the Uplands fair, trying to decide which of the 8 paintings I’d short listed I should buy). It’s also spurred me to start painting again. So thank you!
I brought the painting home last night and unwrapped it. It is magnificent! I spent the evening admiring how it changed with the changing light. Lovely.

Umbrella Flowers

Now available for purchase on my website – “Umbrella Flowers” – oil – 50 x 60cm – £295

“An expressionist oil painting of some cow parsley flowers craning their necks to the sun to catch a fragment of some nourishing summer light as it peeks and shoots through the trees and bushes in the background. I love the way cow parsley catches the light in it’s lacy petals. It’s delicacy the very expression of summer calm and heat. They seem to stretch their flowery fingers to the sun in exaltation. In praise of summer.”

Snowdonian Mountain Farm

A new oil painting as of today – “Snowdonian Mountain Farm” – 60 x 50 cm – £295

Colourful oil painting of a farm nestled into the volcanic lap of a scarred mountain in Snowdonia. I love the passionate, intense colours of this North Walian mountain range, so rugged, brilliant, windswept and captivating. So multi-coloured, many hues layered on layers.

Strangely off putting and inviting in a same single crystal clean mountain breath.
